@librarian these are cool, but would you be able to hashtag or cw all of the midjourney posts with midjourney or #midjourney (&c. if the source changes)? i like these, but i know a lot of folks in our corner of the fedi prefer ai-generated art to be tagged in some way, especially when no image description is provided. thanks! :3

@patchwork I'll consider something like tagging the following ones, if they don't appear clearly and directly linked to the original, which contains the img desc text for them all in the plain post body, like I assume they would be. But I definitely won't do it, or use CW to hide them, just because some other part of the 'verse prefers a particular way of doing things. If people not following me don't like 'em they can mute me themselves.

cw/tag request

@patchwork By the by, I'm using hometown fork, but I presume people on other instances can also filter posts and also entire conversations based on a term like "midjourney" which should catch then hide or drop the first as well as subsequent replies to the first, but I can see how adding the midjourney to the replies might help people following me with more primitive filters manage their own feeds.

cw/tag request

@librarian unfortunately, outside of hometown, current versions of glitch and vanilla masto don't mute threads based on the tags of previous posts, just whatever tags are in any given post. afaik hometown is the only fedi platform that does this, though i'll admit i haven't looked too hard at pleroma or misskey

cw/tag request

@patchwork Ah, interesting! I've had need to use filters yet, but here's what I would likely try. But, yeah, I don't know about other instances than my own or what they have by way of tools. Hometown is cool.

cw/tag request

@librarian oh! i mostly use mobile, but logging into desktop, i see this option on glitch, as well. apologies

cw/tag request

@patchwork Hey, cool! Hometown is still cool, for other reasons. ;p (Mainly I picked it for the lists feature, where I can make lists and have them not show up in my main web UI feed, but also if I ever have people on this instance there's a way to post only to those here too.)

cw/tag request

@patchwork And, sorry for the flood of unanswered replies, but people not directly following me should only see my posts in their Federated feed on instances where someone is following me or indirectly through someone who is that interacts with them. So I'm not going to change my way of doing things for hypothetical six-degrees of randos. But, I'll consider your suggestion as how I might help those actually following me directly and indirectly.

cw/tag request

@librarian these weren't meant to be hypothetical — these are folks on my instance; friends. afaik we weren't federating until i followed y'all, so i'll admit i was a little worried about our federated timeline

cw/tag request

@patchwork Yeah. But, it's a losing battle, I think, to try to over manage the Federated feed on an instance for other people. They're able to mute anyone that appears there, that someone on the instance is following, if they don't want to see that, for themselves, at any time.
